 |
Advice
|
If no formal design work is
planned, Koncepts are happy to offer an "advice only" service for planning
& planting. This is charged at the hourly rate (see
prices page)
 |
Initial
design consultation
|
A free initial 1 hour
meeting to establish your outline requirements, likes and dislikes,
personal taste and aspirations for your garden. This time is also
generally used to discuss ideas and a number of potential approaches to the area you would like
designed.
 |
Detailed planning
sessions
|
After the initial meeting a decision
is made whether to continue with the project. Koncepts should be
informed within 7 days as to the intentions of the client, and an
appropriate deposit paid. If
follow-up detailed planning sessions are required these are chargeable at the
hourly planning rate (see prices page). The client should then be in a position to
decide which of the follow-up services they are interested in
commissioning. These are listed below;
 |
Sketch design and
presentation |
Sketch designs can be
produced for the various elements of the garden. These form the
first design representation of what the client is hoping to achieve, and
can be used either as a basis for further technical designs, or taken away
by the client for them to arrange for the work to be carried out by their
own designers & contractors. These sketches are only a visual representation of
the discussed plans, and do not contain any detailed technical information.
These sketches are chargeable items, but this charge is waived if the
further technical design phase is embarked upon.
 |
Technical design |
This involves a
number of the below phases, depending on the size and complexity of the
design. The current condition of the garden & soil, and access for
any landscaping vehicles also needs to be taken into account at this
stage. The various charges for the components are laid out in the
pricing section. Before any design phases commence the
costs are agreed with the client in writing & a 15% deposit paid.
Full Survey &
Analysis - This will involve detailed measuring and analysis of the site
which allows the production of an accurate scale plan (see example I in
the portfolio page) Any existing trees and shrubs and other major
features which form part of the design will be included.
Soil test - This
may be necessary if there is any question regarding the drainage & PH
levels of your
soil. This can be important to help determine which plants will be best
suited to the project
Landscaping plan -
a separate detailed construction plan for the hard landscaping in
preparation for the landscaping contractors if appropriate
Production of full technical plans
(B&W or colour) These are the full plans with details of any
landscaping, planting and other features. See
example II in the portfolio page for details.

Project Management
|
Once the designs are
complete there are a number of options surrounding how the project is
managed;
The client engages their own contractors
based on the plans, with no further input from Koncepts
The client engages their own contractors,
with Koncepts handling the on and off-site project management
Koncepts engages the contractors, who
are managed by the client
Koncepts engages the contractors, and
deals with all on & off-site project management
For the charges for these various
options please see the prices page.
 |
Plant procurement
|
Koncepts can also procure all the
plants needed for the project, and a separate quote for this element is
generally produced for consideration by the client.
 |
Planting Plan
|
Some clients request a printed bespoke planting plan, with a list of suitable
plants coupled with advice for maintenance & aftercare. These can be
provided as part of an overall design, or as a separate service as
appropriate.
